Most of the time when people mention they are traveling to Italy, they hit the same areas. Many flights may go into the city of Milan, but it only seems to be a passing spot on the way to experience the romance of Venice, history of Rome or charm of Florence. Milan however, is an incredible city in its own right, with so much to see. It is an amazing place to study abroad.
First, Milan is a big city where you will never be bored. The city itself is easy to navigate and you can walk, take a bus, tram, or metro just about everywhere. The big city factor allows it to host events such as the Expo, Fashion Week, Design Week, UEFA soccer finals, big open concerts, and so much more; there is always something to see. When there is no event taking place, the night life is still alive and fun from aperitivo to the discos.
Last, it is a great place to take in Italian culture. Although it is a big city, you still get people hanging their laundry between buildings and there are beautiful gardens with veggies and flowers. The food and wine are phenomenal and the locals are lovely. You will see how well put together the locals always are, listen to the romance of the Italian language, and see the passion the people have for their families and loved ones.
Milan is an underrated city full of history, beauty, excitement, and charm. It is definitely a place to consider studying at one of the many universities available.
